A five-year prison sentence has been requested against former Guinean Prime Minister Ibrahima Kassory Fofana, who is on trial in Conakry for charges of embezzlement of public funds, corruption, and money laundering, an AFP journalist reported on Monday.
Fofana, who served as Prime Minister under former President Alpha Condé from May 2018 to September 2021, has been in detention since April 2022.
During the hearing, Aminata Kaba, the prosecutor at the Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Offenses (Crief), called for a fine of five billion Guinean francs (€551,267) and the seizure of all of Fofana’s assets, including his three bank accounts.
