On Saturday, the President of the Malian Transition, His Excellency General Assimi GOÏTA, welcomed his Ghanaian counterpart, President John Dramani MAHAMA, for a 24-hour visit of friendship and work in Mali. The Ghanaian presidential plane landed at 11:15 AM at the Modibo Keïta-Sénou International Airport, where President Mahama was warmly received by General Assimi GOÏTA. The atmosphere was filled with solemnity and African brotherhood.
Following the national anthems of both countries, the two leaders reviewed the troops before greeting members of the diplomatic and consular corps, as well as the Ghanaian community in Mali. After a brief meeting in the presidential pavilion, the two heads of state headed to the Koulouba Palace to continue the official agenda.
During this bilateral meeting, the two leaders held a private discussion, followed by an expanded session with their respective delegations. Key topics included strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing security and economic cooperation, and addressing regional issues, particularly those related to the Sahel States Confederation (AES).
