EU Welcomes the Appointment of Hanna Tetteh as New UN Envoy to Libya
The Head of the European Union Delegation to Libya, Nicola Orlando, welcomed the appointment of Hanna Serwaa Tetteh as the new Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), In a post on his X account, Orlando reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to supporting UN mediation efforts and emphasized the importance of a sustainable political solution through an inclusive dialogue among Libyans.
The Ghanaian diplomat Hanna Tetteh replaces former UN envoy Abdoulaye Bathily, who left his position in May 2024, UN Secretary-General António Guterres officially announced her appointment on Friday, marking a continued international effort to advance Libya’s political process toward stability.
