UN Condemns Escalation of Violence in Darfur
The United Nations Security Council has strongly condemned the intensification of attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against the city of El-Fasher in Darfur, calling for an immediate ceasefire. In a statement released on Friday, Council members expressed deep concern over the escalating violence in and around the city, warning of the dire humanitarian consequences of the ongoing conflict.
The Council specifically denounced the January 24 attack on the Saudi hospital in El-Fasher, which claimed the lives of more than 70 patients and their relatives. In light of this alarming situation, the UN urges the warring parties to end hostilities and allow the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to affected populations.
