Guinea: Ex-Leader Dadis Camara Freed After Presidential Pardon
By Africa Eye (AFP)
Former Guinean ruler Moussa Dadis Camara, who was serving a 20-year prison sentence for crimes against humanity, has been released following a presidential pardon on health grounds. His release, which occurred on Friday evening, was confirmed by the Guinean Organization for the Defense of Human Rights (OGDH) on Saturday.
According to the OGDH, Dadis Camara made a brief stop at his residence before being moved to a secured villa in an upscale district of Conakry, where he remains under tight surveillance by gendarmerie patrols. His release has sparked debates on justice and accountability in Guinea, raising concerns about its broader implications.
