Edited by : Africa Eye
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is scheduled to arrive in South Africa this Thursday for a historic visit, marking the first time a Ukrainian head of state officially travels to the country. President Cyril Ramaphosa will host his Ukrainian counterpart in a meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new opportunities for cooperation.
Presidential spokesperson Vincent Magwenya highlighted the significance of the visit, stating that it opens the door for expanded dialogue between the two nations. “This visit provides South Africa and Ukraine with an opportunity to discuss bilateral relations and expand cooperation in the areas of trade, agriculture, and education,” he said on Wednesday.
The visit is seen as a step towards diversifying Ukraine’s global partnerships amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in Eastern Europe, while also allowing South Africa to play a more active role in international diplomatic efforts.
