Mauritania is highlighting its energy investment potential during the “Investing in African Energy” conference currently underway in Paris. According to a statement by the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, the country aims to present its vast offshore and coastal basin resources, which hold significant geological promise.

The Mauritanian delegation is led by Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Mohamed Ould Khaled, accompanied by senior advisors and officials from the ministry, as well as the Director General of the Mauritanian Hydrocarbons Company.

The conference, which began Tuesday morning, has drawn broad participation from African energy and petroleum ministers, alongside key public and private sector stakeholders from across the continent.

The ministry emphasized that Mauritania’s participation focuses on promoting investment opportunities in the oil and gas sectors, while also showcasing the country’s stable legal and institutional frameworks designed to foster a competitive investment climate.

A key highlight of Mauritania’s presentation is the BirAllah gas field, located offshore, which contains an estimated 60 trillion cubic feet of natural gas — making it one of the country’s most significant untapped assets.

On the sidelines of the event, Minister Ould Khaled is expected to hold several bilateral meetings with international investors and energy players to promote exploration and development partnerships.
