The Somali President Holds Bilateral Talks with Egyptian Counterpart

The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held bilateral talks on Monday with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the Al-Alamein Presidential Palace, focusing on strengthening strategic cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting underscored both leaders’ shared commitment to deepening bilateral relations and enhancing regional stability. President El-Sisi announced Egypt’s plan to reopen its embassy in Mogadishu soon, reflecting Cairo’s determination to expand diplomatic engagement and support Somalia’s stabilization efforts.
The President of Somalia expressed appreciation for Egypt’s comprehensive support, particularly in security, diplomacy, education, health, and military cooperation. He reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to advancing a strategic partnership with Egypt and emphasized the importance of joint efforts to address regional security and development challenges.
Both sides reiterated their determination to accelerate the implementation of the cooperation agreement signed in August 2024, aimed at fostering closer institutional ties and enhancing capacity-building initiatives. President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for Somalia’s government and people, emphasizing solidarity in the fight against terrorism and in efforts to achieve national unity and sustainable development.
The Somali President also expressed gratitude for the warm reception extended by the Egyptian leadership, describing it as a testament to the longstanding historical and cultural ties between the two nations.
This high-level meeting marks a renewed momentum in Somali-Egyptian relations, taking place at a time when both countries seek to strengthen regional alliances and address common challenges, including security threats and economic development priorities.
